Moncler Gamme Bleu: Modern Highlanders In Kilts

The Moncler Gamme Bleu is definitely a collection that caught our attention from the autumn-winter 2013-14 lines. The collection, signed by Thom Browne was a spectacle of Dutch war paint, kilts and tartan plaids. After last year’s motorcycles and many whites, this year the house comes out with a more spectacular production. Also, this creation comes as a good follow of the spring-summer 2013 collection.

The actual runway show was presented in a set of wonder, representing a Scottish winter’s dream of snow and ice-silvered trees.

We think that this collection is really catchy because it’s a real transformation of old, existing style elements and because it’s not superficial and too vain. It’s a guy collection, with a guy mind-frame and a modern feel.

We can see a lot of bizarre yet modern accessories, funky but functional hats (good-looking winter hats are a rarity), cool and warm socks and fancy sandals. The creations are at the same time modern, historical, dynamic and creative. We also like this collection, because it contains both pieces that can be actually worn and pieces that are “art”: they’re for the runway and they’re to stay.

The main colors of the collection were white, navy blue, red, gray and black.

In terms of fabrics, we could see wool, cashmere, Shetland wool, Calvary wool twill, Cordura and Ripstop nylon. As accessories, we could see shoes and ankle boots with a side buckle in leather and Shetland wool.

Have a look at some of our favorites and why we like them!

If you were to mix the one with withe sleeves with the one with red sleeves, it would look like a Dracula costume!

Perhaps the combination would have looked like that, but this is why Thom Browne chose not to do it!
