A good morning routine lowers daily stress and supports relaxation. This is why it is important to do things in the morning that will start you off on the right foot. Having good morning rituals will make you not only have a clearer and sharper mind all day, but it will make feel and look good in both the short and long run. And, while everyone is different, there are some things you can choose to do that might work well for you.

We like to call everything you do before and after you get dressed “metafashion” and these 7 things, from which you can choose what suits you best, are a great example of that.

1. Drink water

Drinking water might be something you don’t even consider doing first thing in the morning. However, the people who drink a big glass of water when they wake up, see the difference it makes and stick to this ritual. Our bodies get dehydrated during the night, so hydrating them when we wake up is very important. Not only that, but a glass of water will get your psychological and physical processes started and remove the weird feeling some people have in their mouths when they get up. According to some studies, drinking water on an empty stomach can also help your health and ameliorate headaches or constipation. A glass of cool water in the morning is definitely something that will give you a refresh.

 

 

2. Work out

If the time allows, you should definitely work out in the morning. This will raise your energy levels and make you feel more present in your body. If you don’t have the time to go for a run or exercise at the gym, a few push-ups at home will make a big difference too. Working out helps you transition your body from night-mode to day-mode, which is why it is important for both your body and your mind to get some physical exercise in the morning.

 

 

3. Shower and shave

Taking a good shower in the morning will wake you up and put you in that day-mode we were talking about earlier. Even if you are a guy who has a hard time waking up, getting under the shower is definitely something you can do. By the time you are half way through, you will already feel better and more alert.

Once you are done showering, you can shave, as your skin is relaxed, your pores are open and therefore, you will have a smoother and easier shave. Once you are done shaving, don’t forget to wash your face with cold water. This will not only refresh your mind, but it will also close your pores and therefore no dust or dirt will enter your skin.

Don’t forget to add deodorant and cologne and you will take the day to another level. Apply moisturizer, brush your teeth and you will be ready to go.

You can also use this time to exfoliate, but remember that you should not exfoliate daily.

 

 

4. Have breakfast

 

 

 

It is said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Whether that’s completely true or not, we don’t know, but what everyone will tell you is that it’s not great to leave the house empty-stomach. If you are a coffee drinker, breakfast is a great time to enjoy a coffee. If you are not a coffee drinker, you can eat an apple instead, as it has the same (if not a bigger) effect on your body as coffee.

 

 

5. Plan for the day

Making a plan for the day is very important. Maybe not so much a plan as a list of objectives to meet. This might sound simple and even stupid, but it does help you be more organized and keep track of things easier. Having daily goals will help you be more focused and therefore, you will not have to stress yourself out, which will result in you feeling more relaxed. Feeling more relaxed will definitely show in your poise, your posture and on your expressions and skin.

 

 

6. Read

It is very important to read something in the morning, even if it’s just from a magazine or website. You can do this at home, while having breakfast or you can do it on the train if you commute. Reading will not only relax you, but it will also add more knowledge to your mind.

 

 

7. Mediate

A thing you can do each morning is mediate. This is something that is not for everyone. However, there are ways to benefit from it even if you don’t do it by the book. Having a moment, during which you relax, whether it’s in the elevator or at home can help you be more calm and so, day by day, putting one small step in front of the other, this will help you take your self to the next level.

 

 

Having good morning rituals that suit your lifestyle is crucial. They allow you to build momentum, to be healthier and happier and to have long-term success and wellbeing. A good morning routine will make you grow, day after day.
