The 12 Best Looks from London Collections: Men SS 2016

London is one of the world’s most important fashion and style capitals, next to Milan, Paris and New York. Their London Collections: Men event has become in recent years one of the top menswear events from around the world. The days dedicated to men’s fashion in the British capital bring together iconic fashion houses, famous models, amazing stylists and talented photographers that make the whole event happen. Moreover, the LC:M event also has a strong economical relevance, as the revenues generated by the four days of fashion shows are impressive and go to show that menswear is truly an important part of the fashion world.

The spring-summer collections showcased during this summer’s London Collections: Men event, which took place between June 12 and June 15, were an eclectic bunch of interesting and diverse designs.

From the very practical and wearable to the very experimental, a style-interested man could see everything walk down the runway. Brands such as Dunhill, Gieves and Hawkes, Paul Smith, Xander Zhou or Tiger of Sweden were just some of those that displayed their take on the spring-summer 2016 season.

In a way, this is the beauty of the contemporary fashion events: there is no one big trend that gets through in all the shows, each brand presents a unique and personal take on the season, as the sources of inspiration very diverse. Of course, if we were to round up all the shows, certain elements such as neon colors, second skin or nude-appearing items and head-to-toe printed outfits were quite frequent, so there were a few trending elements. However, during the LC:M event, one could see many types of patterns, colors, cuts, fabrics, shapes and stylings.

As usual, there were many military-inspired garments, many classic pieces that were reinterpreted, many urban garments and many gender-bending items.

Even though collections such as the Craig Green collection, which had models carrying big rectangles of cloth with a hole in them, tried to push the boundaries of fashion, there were only a few truly outstanding looks.

However, there were many very good and creative looks that we are looking forward to see on the shelves soon or their adaptations for department stores.  It is always great to see that the men’s fashion world is growing and expanding, and, that, even though at times it appears to be a slow process, the scene is becoming increasingly diverse and interesting. This way, men have more options available when it comes to creating their own style with the clothes and accessories offered by the fashion world.

After the London shows, we are definitely curious to see what the first runway outfits will be during the much-anticipated New York Fashion Week: Men event, which will take place in July in the Big Apple.

Let’s take a look at our favorite twelve looks and see why we liked them and what one can learn from them:

There is certainly a lot to take from these collections, my eyes were drawn to and stayed on these looks- the All Red ensemble- this is really great, I rarely see men layer with a bold colour and this image shows them how its done, I also love the brown ensemble with the shorts. The ice cool white tailored menswear just screams- Casino Night In Monte Carlo, I also love that all white kaftan-ish-inspired number…
Ps I’ve written some menswear posts on my blog, so take a look when you have a moment! When I first started my blog, I tried to balance my menswear and womenswear but somewhere along the line the ratio decreased severely. Now I’m going to make a conscious effort to blog about more menswear, I do love it!
Have a Good Sunday!
