3 Reasons a Watch with a Brand History is Worth It

In the fashion world, certain brands, especially those of luxury goods such as Swiss watches, place their founding year under their name on their label. This is something that does not happen for no reason, as a watch offered by a label with a long history can be very different than from a newer brand.

For example, the Swiss independent watch brand Louis Moinet, which is named after the man who invented the chronograph in the 19th century, is celebrating 200 years since the invention of the chronograph and the Atelier’s tenth anniversary. On this occasion, they have launched a new timepiece, called the Memoris.

The Memoris is the first chronograph-watch in history. To achieve this, the whole chronograph function of the watch has been shifted to the dial, therefore this complication becoming not only the heart of the design, but the piece’s primary function as well. The chronograph is one of the central components of the watch to which a time function has been added. The “Energie Plus”, which is an automatic pawl winding system, allows the timepieces to be wound in both directions with a minimum of excess travel. Moreover, the system offers a great level of precision, which unrivaled by any other watch. The Memoris comes in 18K pink gold, 18K white gold rhodium-plated mainplate and 18K white gold-blued mainplate. Because the watch is such a special timepiece and celebrates such an important moment in the brand’s history, there are only three limited edition and 60 copies by set. Due to its unparalleled features, the Memoris has been nominated for the prestigious Prix d’Horologie of Geneva.

A watch such as the Memoris is different from every other watch on the market and the brand’s history and background have a lot to do with it.

Here are the three main reasons why watches that come from labels such Louis Moinet are worth investing in and why they are true social symbols.

Advanced technology

A watch brand with a rich history has usually survived by becoming a household name. Being a name that is recognized by people from around the world is something that is hard to achieve and is usually achieved by offering exquisite pieces that everyone will want. In order to be able to offer unique pieces, a brand must have a team of experts that can innovate and produce timepieces that are not made by anyone else. To do this, they invest both in the continuous education of their employees, but also in the creation of new technology and in developing new technologies. And, once a brand has a team of great people, they will continue to invest in them so that they can develop themselves under the roof of the brand and so that they can take the haute horologie to the next level. Therefore, if a brand has a long history, it probably means that there have been put a lot of years into the development of their latest pieces and, since, as it is said, they sit on the shoulders of the giants, you can enjoy an unparalleled piece such as the Memoris by Louis Moinet we mentioned before, which represents a paramount in watch making.

Great design

The technology is not only the only thing that a brand invests in. High-end watch brands do everything in their power so that their watches are amazing from an aesthetic point of view as well. Therefore, they make sure their designers create something that has the right proportions, the right colors and the right feel, as a watch must not only look good, but feel comfortable on the wearer’s wrist as well. Therefore, big labels need to always make sure that their design teams are not only aesthetics experts, but that they also know how to work with different materials and what the latest innovations in the field of processing materials is.

A cultural symbol

Watches today have changed their cultural meaning in our lives. Back in the day, unless you had a watch in a tower or somewhere else on the street, it was quite hard to know what time it was. Since mobile phones and tablets have spread, the main feature of a watch is not to tell the time anymore, but to be a cultural symbol. Of course, a great timepiece will let you know exactly what time it is (some of them even underwater), but a watch these days is more than that. Watches have become fashion accessories that let others know a lot about the person who wears them. Wearing a statement watch such as the Memoris will let others know that you are a man who pays attention to details, who appreciates elegance and great craftsmanship and that is a big statement.

It is great how watches have come out of their cocoon and developed into something new, all while not giving up on their original function and purpose. Wearing an accessory that is both elegant and practical is what style is all about: mixing function and form while expressing who you are is the purpose of fashion and is what we love to call true style.
