Transitioning Your Wardrobe from Winter to Spring (B)

Spring is a renewal time for nature and it should be a regeneration time for your wardrobe as well. However, the warm season doesn’t come all of a sudden and there is a transition period that might make it harder for you to dress in the morning. The weather might be cold during the morning, warm during the day and rainy in the evening. This might make it hard for you to create outfits that work well with early spring’s caprices.

You might think that transitioning from winter to spring is all about changing the colors of your clothes and accessories, but there’s more to it. Yes, replacing the colors of your clothes is a powerful styling tool that most men undervalue and under-use at the same time. While you might be tempted to hold back on wearing brighter colors or patterns out of fear that the look won’t work, we advise you to conquer this fear and dive in the wonderful world that is the world of colors, patterns and prints. Knowing how to choose the colors of your clothes like a pro might take a while, but if you are a beginner, you should know that creative combinations are the most interesting: blue and green, pink and orange, red and cobalt blue, purple and blue are all color combinations that look great in the spring.

Our advice is to trust yourself and to not be afraid to put on a chalky shirt from time to time. This way, you will develop your style and take your wardrobe to the next level without even noticing it.

If you are a guy who doesn’t want to invest too much time into putting outfits together and wear blazers and suits, it does not mean that you need to be sloppy. You can dress up in casual shirts and well-fitting khakis and add some personality to your outfit with some more interesting accessories such as colorful socks. Adding something more visually interesting to your outfit will make you look better, stand out and draw the right kind of attention.

Color, however, is not the only the thing that you need to have in mind when transitioning from winter to spring. Even though it’s an important part, it is not the most important part.

Layers

A great way to add more comfort and more style to your outfits is to make use of layers. Wearing an undershirt – shirt – vest – blazer combination is a great way to go in the early spring, as you can take them off or put them on, depending on the weather conditions or indoor climate in which you will find yourself.

Layering is a great way to add some spunk to your outfits, as they are flexible systems that look sharp, keep you just as warm as you want and let you breathe well. Moreover, adding layers to your outfits will give them more dimension and therefore, you will be more interesting-looking.

Layering will ensure you that you are ready for unexpected weather and is a great way to slowly transition the clothes in your wardrobe from winter to spring.

For great results, it is recommended to wear more lightweight pieces, such as vests, bomber jackets, thin scarves, etc.

Change materials progressively

Some materials are better to be worn in the winter rather than in the warm season, and, while you will eventually replace your winter wardrobe with your summer one, it is recommended to do it gradually. Replacing your wardrobe abruptly will make you feel as if you are standing in your summer clothes in the middle of the winter.

Start by replacing your sweaters with lighter clothes, after that, proceed to replacing your winter coat with a great leather jacket or bomber jacket (or, why not with a leather bomber jacket?) and your winter socks with your spring socks one pair at a time.

A denim shirt can look great in the spring!

If you want a smooth transition, you can opt for materials such as denim, which is appropriate for most seasons and which is suited for most settings (especially dark denim). A pair of jeans can work better this time of year than a pair of chinos, for two reasons: one, you can wear them in any weather and two, you can wear them with almost anything.

Furthermore, if you are wearing jeans, you can pair them with any color, as they are neutral. There’s no going wrong with such a safe bet. A good pair of jeans can be dressed up with any texture, color and pattern and you will be sure that it goes with anything else you are wearing.

Watch your shoes

A pair of wingtip shoes

A very important aspect when it comes to transitioning your wardrobe from winter to the warm season is to make sure you have the proper shoes to do it. The best way to go is to have a great pair of leather shoes. Leather is an incredible material that is strong, durable, flexible, it can withstand heat, coldness and rain and the more you wear it, the stronger it becomes. When it comes to styles of shoes, wingtip shoes, oxfords and brogues are the most versatile styles. They can be worn with dress pants, jeans and other casual pants alike.

Great oxfords

Invest in a good pair of shoes and you will not regret it!

Colorful chukka boots

Another option when it comes to shoes is wearing chukka boots. These come in many styles and there are many light chukka boots out there, which are perfect for the early spring time. Even though chukka boots are more appropriate in the fall, a good pair can be worn in the spring as well.

Wear some color this spring!

Spring is a great time of re-growth and your wardrobe should reflect that. Light fabrics, interesting details, softer styling and pairing a pair of dress pants with a pastel shirt are all great ways to express the springtime through your clothes.

Playing with your style is always a very important tip for managing your wardrobe. This is something that is really true for transitioning into the spring, when you can breathe new life into your outfits, with more interesting, more colorful and sharper clothes.

At the end of the day, the clothes you wear should be a reflection of who you are and the best style is a style that is creative, effortless and individual.

The key to pulling anything off is to be confident in your own taste and not to think too much of what you wear. Wear the things you like, make sure that they fit, that they go together, that they reflect who you are, and that they are appropriate for the setting in which you will wear them and you will feel comfortable and stylish.

A great wardrobe is a wardrobe that induces confidence and positivity in its wearer. If you don’t feel comfortable and very confident in your clothes, you have some shopping to do. This time of year is a great opportunity to develop your style, play with clothes and make yourself part of the spring!

They definitely do! We love colorful socks very much, they go almost anytime, anywhere!

Very useful tips! Especially the part about Layering which in many ways is an art form and it does make you look more interesting (when done well!). Spring is one of the best times to layer up as the weather is not to warm and not so cold. As you said, using lightweight fabrics does the trick!

Hmm.. I used to take out my clothes and replace them, I guess the slowly transitioning materials is a great thing!
