They say that professionalism is in the details. And that, our friends, is kinda true. We normally talk about cut and shape and colors, patterns, prints and all those eye-catching things that are the basis and the structure when it comes to creating an outfit. But in this article, we want to focus on something else: the collar. Have you ever thought that there are a lot of shapes the collar can take?
Each collar has its on characteristics and use. On the picture featured to this article, you can study the different types of collars and see think about when and how you can incorporate them into your outfits.
Let’s have a look at the most common types of collars.
Each collar type goes to a different occasion or attire. For example, the classic straight point collar is perfect if you are wearing a tie. This kind of collar also helps you if you want to create the illusion that your neck is longer.
The band or the wing up definitely give a man a more formal, serious look. And they are also a lot more festive.
Pretty much all collars go for any occasion, which is why we think it`s important that next time you go shopping, you should try several shirts with different types of colors, to see what they do aesthetically to your face and structure, and also how they go with the tie you will wear, if you are going to wear one.
A collar’s job is to properly frame your face and play down anything that might be distracting in a negative way. This is why it is important to wear the type of collar that frame your shape and not someone else’s.

Thanks for sharing. I’m moving away from the button-downs lately. They’re just too casual, for most occasions (especially with a tie). Spruce it up, I say! I’ve been buying hidden buttons, which I do like. You just need a good dry cleaner, who doesn’t smash down the tabs and leave tab marks on the up-side.
It`s really cool to see someone who really wants to style it up!
