Sunshine Blogging Award

Hello! We have some Attire Club News. This is Fraquoh and Franchomme and these are the news, as they would say on television. We have been nominated for the “Sunshine Blogging Award” by Danielle Gaito at The Syncretic Aesthetic. It’s really exciting to get such nice recognitions from people, since it’s our 4 blogging award.

Sunshine Blogging Award

Like most blogging awards, this award also implies some questions that needed to be answered, like a small interview to get to know the blogger(s) better, so here are the questions we found on Danielle Gaito’s site and our answers. Think of what you would answer!

What is the default song you put on when you want to listen to something but don’t feel like choosing?
We each have our own playlists, that usually come as a “default”. We shared some songs we like on our playlist “AC sounds“. The thing about music is that it’s an amazing tool that can boost your spirit and influence your state. Good music is actually something very organic. We can argue that music is the most subtle form of art, as you can feel and see things just by hearing sounds that otherwise would not have much to do with our lives.

–What do you do when you’re uncomfortable in a social situation?
Socially awkward situations can happen for many reason, so it’s always best to  see why that situation happened in the first place. Was it a mistake or just some unexplainable will? People tend to act in many different ways: some of us explode, others shut down for a while, while others simply become numb, not knowing what to do. The best way to react in an uncomfortable social situation is to excuse yourself from it. If it’s during an event you can’t leave, just excuse yourself for a short while, until things calm down.

–What subtly obnoxious behavior bothers you most in others?
Subtly obnoxious? These are behaviors many time people don’t know the do, so it’s best not to take them into consideration or place high value on them. However, they always actually mean something. This is a lot to think about, but we can both agree that it’s sometimes the small annoying gestures that make you uncomfortable: when someone is “beating” a rhythm with their fingers in a table claiming to be listening or constantly checking their mobile. But other behavior can be annoying too.

–What article of clothing do you own that you know is stupid but you really like anyway?
Hmmm… this is a tough one. Someone once said that there are no vulgar clothes, there are only vulgar people. It’s similar with weird clothes. We all have our own strange pieces of clothes we’re not willing to give up on, such as a weird tie or an old sweater. Some clothes must be worn in order to see how they actually pan out. Something goofy can be looked at highly inspirational by the next generations, so it’s best not to judge so hard.

–Do you like typing better or hand writing, and why?
Writing is a unique thing that for the first time in history can be done in multiple ways, if we’re not taking into consideration sculpting letters in stone. Because we need to answer this question we cans say that Fraquoh is more of the typing type, because things need to be typed in the end, so you can save time by typing from the first draft, while Franchomme is more creative writing by hand. Of course, when it comes to e-mails or tweets, they don’t actually need a hand-written draft. Oh, and we’re both fans of calligraphy, which is something of a lost art that we would like to revive.

–Are you weighed down by your possessions or comforted by them?
Our nominator, Danielle, answered this question beginning with “Context is key” and we believe that to be true too. It all depends on how you relate to your possessions and what you regard as your possessions. We believe that your possessions don’t need to burden you. If they do, they’re probably problems.

–What writer would you like to believe writes in the style that you think in?

We might never get to the bottom of this, it already took too long to discuss, but we can say that it’s not so much the style as the things a writer says. One of the goals of writing is to get your reader to say “I thought that too but didn’t know how to express it”, so you can find your voice in anyone and anything in the end. Don’t you think?

–Is time alone liberating or depressing?
The current Dalai Lama said that you need to spend a little time alone every day. Spending time alone is important, to analyze how you relate to the environment you are in, but if it’s a full, then you have to take a break from it and breathe some society. Spending time also can be a tool. Just like technology, you can use it to do good or do bad, it doesn’t have a value in itself.

–Have you ever written a letter to someone and never given it to them?
None of us remember to have done it, but it could have happened.

–What movie influenced you most, and was that influence psychological, aesthetic, or both?

Conversations about films can be endless, so we just want to say that it’s like writing: sometimes, expected or the unexpected offers you a piece of information you didn’t know you wanted. It’s hard to name one film, some films have thought us about aesthetics, others are great study of character, some are both, but it’s hard to think of a work that influenced you “the most”. A film can be an experience, a teacher, and so many other things.

As part of receiving a blogging award comes the part where you need to give it to other people. There are so many bloggers we would like to nominate, and we’re happy to have received other blogging nominations, as we could offer our award to those we wanted to, so here are our nominations for this one:
