There are certain clothing items and accessories that almost everyone uses and wears. Jackets, pants, jewelry, etc. are all things that we put on on a daily basis. But have you ever thought that you could turn these ordinary items into real strong style statements?
Pumping up your style and making yourself stand out is easier to do than you’d think. You just need some great pieces to work with that will take your style to that next level. Here are some great examples from which you can draw your inspiration:
Wear fur
During the cold season, we all need jackets and coats to keep warm. So, if you are wearing a jacket, why not go for a very bold option and wear a fur jacket?
Even though it might seem like it, fur is not for rappers or pimps only. Any man can wear fur, which is a great thing to wear if you want to look more imposing and more dominant. If you don’t want to go all fur and wear a big fur coat, you can keep it smaller and wear for example a jacket that features fur lapels, a fur collar or other types of fur accents.
If you don’t believe in using real fur for clothing, these days you can opt for synthetic furs that look just as good.
Wear bold accessories
On Attire Club, we always speak about how a man should wear accessories to complete his looks. More than just a way to crown your outfits, accessories are a great way to express your personality and taste. Choose accessories that feature colors or color combinations, prints and references that speak about your identity, world view and personality. For example, wearing religious symbols is a powerful statement. Wearing prints or patterns that refer to a certain group is also a bold move and wearing certain brands is also, in the eyes of many, a status statement. Wearing accessories that define you more or less will make you feel more connected with yourself and will give others insight into who you want to be and therefore, into how they should treat you.
When it comes to accessories, the main thing you should know is that they should always be proportionate to your body. Bigger men should wear larger accessories, while smaller men should go for smaller pieces. However, wearing accessories that are appropriate for your body size does not mean that they should not be bold. A great way to take your style to a whole new level is to replace dull accessories with really bold ones. Whatever they might be: ties, pocket squares, chains, watches, etc., wear something that really stands out and makes your presence noticeable.
When it comes to styling your accessories, you can either wear one very bold accessory, or one very bold accessory and a few smaller ones or simply go with many strong accessories: in the end, it’s up to you, but whatever you do, make sure you do it to the fullest: don’t do something “just a little”. If you wear something bold, make sure it will be seen, that it is supported by the other things you are wearing and doesn’t blend in and that it stands out well. For example, a very bold necklace looks great on a neutral shirt. Remember that, in fashion, neutrals are colors that go with any other color, pattern, and texture and with each other. These colors are beige, gray, black, white, khaki, ivory, tan, dark blue, brown, etc.
In the end, it’s up to you if you follow Iris Apfel’s view: “More is more and less is a bore” or Coco Chanel’s, who said that “before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory.”
Wear white pants
White pants seem to be, for some reason, a taboo in the men’s fashion world. This is why, to give your style and overall upgrade, you should incorporate white pants in your outfits from time to time. In the US, there is the all-famous “don’t wear white after Labor Day” saying, which for non-Americans doesn’t mean anything. The thing is that you can wear white whenever you want, but if you wear it in the winter, make sure you won’t find yourself in environments where you can get stains all over your pants.
Wear statement shoes
You cannot have an overall good look if you are wearing bad shoes. This is why you should definitely invest in a great pair of versatile, everyday dress shoes. Wingtips or dressy moccasins can cover you in most situations and make great everyday shoes. However, once you’ve got your basis shoes in order, you should invest in a great pair of
statement shoes. Go for something that doesn’t match anything or for something that has something special: a detail, a color, interesting proportions, etc.
Carry a statement bag
Just like in the case of shoes, which we all wear and all need, bags are a daily essential. Therefore, if you carry a bag every day, why not carry a statement bag? Many brands these days offer bags or briefcases that have incredible designs, fantastic colors and fabulous textures. Carrying a high quality bag will make you feel more confident and more comfortable with yourself. So, why shouldn’t you invest in a top-notch bag that you will enjoy carrying?
As you can see, pumping up just one item that you use and wear anyway can make a big impact not only on the way you look, but on the way you feel about yourself and world as well. And, as we always say, feeling great about yourself is very important part of reaching your goals and being the best you can be as a man.
