The 22nd edition of the Screen Actors Guild Awards took place on January 30, 2016. The ceremony, which awarded the best in film and television performances for the year 2015, was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.
The main award, the SAG Life Achievement Award was offered this year to the great Carol Burnett, for her great impact on popular culture and entertainment.
The show was broadcast by TNT and TBS in the United States.
And, as with any awards show, there is a red carpet event, where the stars shine in the flashes of the cameras. Let’s take a look at the best menswear looks from this year’s SAG Awards and at why we enjoyed their looks:
Kit Harrington
Actor Kit Harrington wore the very classic suit on the red carpet. What we can all take home from his look is that a classic suit works well in any situation. To dress it up, you can wear it with a pair of fabulous shiny shoes (as Kit did) that take the whole outfit to a different level.
We also appreciate Kit’s careful grooming very much, as it is hard to work a rebel look and still look polished and fresh.
Ty Burrell
Ty Burrell, mostly known from the hit TV show “Modern Family” attended the 2016 SAG Awards in a classic suit, which suited his frame very well. What we loved about his look was that the jacket had a subtle pattern and that it only had one button. These elements make any jacket more youthful and fun.
Also, his glasses worked very well with his face type, which makes them more than just glasses, they can be taken as fashion accessories.
Brad Goreski
Celebrity fashionisto Brad Goreski wore a really outstanding purple jacket paired with some well-fitting gray shoes on the red carpet. If there was an award for fashion at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, we would totally hand it to him. Also, the shape and texture of the glasses complimented his jacket, pants and shoes really well!
Louis Aguirre
TV personality and co-anchor at The Insider Luis Aguirre’s jacket showed how you can still look safe and classic, but bring some more dimension and personality to a look. The jacket he wore for the 2016 SAG awards featured accent lapels, which made it more interesting, more personal and more elegant than it would have looked if the lapels had been in the same color as the body of the jacket. What we also loved about Louis’ look was that he wore navy, which makes a great alternative to the classic black, worn by most people at events. Well done!
Jay Duplass
Jay Duplas was a very fancy guy at the SAG awards. Even though his suit featured many elements to look at, such as accent margins, a pocket square and a big bow tie, which usually doesn’t work well, Jay made it work, as these pieces were added on an otherwise classic look. Breaking down a very classic look and making it your own is always a good way to go if you don’t want to get lost in a sea of suits.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, known internationally mostly from the HBO series Game of Thrones looked very polished and sophisticated at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. What we enjoyed most about his look were the details, such as the fine cut of the suit and the well-proportioned buttons of his shirt. We also loved his hairstyle, which made him look young and on trend. Also, a well-kept beard is always a must, and Nikolaj sure had a great beard.
The main lesson we can learn from the 2016 SAG Awards is that at many times, the difference between a classic, bland outfit and a good-looking one is made by one or more details. This is why one should always make sure that every detail of their looks is thought through and chosen with a strong motivation behind it!
These outfits can serve as a great inspiration the next time you need to dress up for a great event!

Brad Goreski’s jacket is wonderful, however that is an ill-fitting pair of pants–the pocket should not be visible through the fabric! They are either too tight or the material too thin and lacking a good lining.
He might have had something in his pocket, which is definitely something one should try to avoid when you’re wearing very fitted pants.
Thanks for noticing!
