Giorgio Armani is a man who, through his runway shows and brand has managed to construct a world of his own. This world, of which anyone with the right mindset can be a part of, is a world that plays by its own coordinates. The world of Giorgio Armani is at the heart of the fashion world, but is clearly defined. Consistent but always innovative is what makes Giorgio Armani’s designs so special and appealing to fashion editors and buyers, as well as to the general public. Fashion insiders know the extensive work of Mr. Armani, even the works that are not mainstream and this makes for them the collection very significant.
This universally appealing aesthetic is also visible in his fall-winter 2016-17 collection. The collection was all about mixing and matching, as the looks featured cool combinations of clothes made from contrasting materials and models were paired not to match, but to go together.
The clothes were Armani classics – items that have been transformed by the designer over time in a slow and organic way. The alpaca, cashmere and vicuña displayed in this collection were in a way similar to those from 20 years ago, but nevertheless new and fresh. The many, flowing minimalist variations of the garments defined a creative collection that reflects the flowing nature of time rather than an abrupt division of it.
After celebrating 40 years in the business in 2015, Giorgio Armani seems to be reinterpreting his own past with this collection. Moreover, he is creating a future based on it. According to Armani, the collection interspersed with elements discovered in northern Africa and the Mediterranean and that a sources of inspiration was the picture of William S. Burroughs in Tangier. The collection is all about voyage, in many directions.
This concept goes hand in hand with Armani’s fluid, unstructured tailoring, which has become his signature on the runways of the world.
The constant reinvention and reinterpretation of the same elements, but in a unique way, similar to what happens in a kaleidoscope, is what makes this collection and in general Giorgio Armani’s collections so beautiful and sensitive, yet contemporary and young.

The 3 knit looks definitely got me. It was interesting seeing Armani’s take on what could be considered a more street wear type of look with the sweaters and the cardigans.
Yes, it was definitely a great take on streetwear!
The velvet pieces work for me!
It definitely is a great piece!
