There’s something about Bally that puts a simile on our faces whenever we see their collections. The brand has a minimalistic, but at the same time eclectic aesthetic that always draws our attention and puts us right in the middle of their world.
For the spring-summer 2016 season, the Swiss brand revealed an American sports collection that is a cross between the great outdoors and the best of Europe’s charm. The collection was unveiled during Milan Fashion Week.
Bally creative director Pablo Coppolo infused this collection with high-quality materials, bold colors and perfect cuts that resulted in unique luxury pieces. The collection consists of everything from khaki safari jackets, army green anoraks, and leather fisherman’s jackets to one of a kind red, cobalt or green velvet tuxedos that are elegant in the purest form.
The wearer of this collection is definitely an adventurous and youthful man who has all the reasons to have both a boilersuit and snakeskin hiking boots in his closet. Even though many of the pieces of these brilliant collections were inspired by utilitarian looks, there was more of a luxe resort vibe to the collection than a technical or mechanical one.
The smart-casual looks modeled by Clément Chabernaud, who posed for the collection’s look book, included navy blazers, robe coats and other elements that conveyed a modern debonair spirit. This collection, which can even turn into a timeless capsule collection, covered all the bases for men who need to get dressed for a very wide variety of settings in great style, which is just one of the reasons we really thought it to be one of the best of the season. The attention to detail and impeccable tailoring and proportions are among the others elements that make it so great!
The aesthetic of the collection has been described as “no limits”, and we can definitely agree with that description – the pieces work in a multitude of contexts and can be mixed and matched in lots of ways. A Bally wearer can create classic outfits or very non-conforming looks, as the styling of the collection showed.
Overall, it can be concluded that the Bally spring-summer 2016 menswear collection is fearless and bold. The intricate pieces are sophisticated and effortless and seem to give an answer to the “why not?” question. This fun collection gives a lot of meaning to fashion possibility, functionality and, most of all, elegance.

I would wear almost every look, the ones that are too utilitarian, I don’t see how I would incorporate them in my wardrobe!
Those are best to be worn on a runway, for sure!
I don’t like all of these, but the ones I do (the last three), I really think they’re amazing!
Thanks for sharing your input, we’re always excited to hear what AC elegantologists think!
