The 2017 edition of the Mnet Asian Music Awards just wrapped up after a series of events across three countries. The MAMA brought together stars of the Asian pop culture scene and offered awards to fan favorites. The last day of the event took place in Hong Kong, where many stars came out to connect with their fans on the red carpet before the show.

Kim Young Chul
Comedian Kim Young Chul who was also red carpet MC wore a very interesting ensemble that worked with layers in a very cool way. The jacket was definitely great, as the black accents created shape and visual interest, but the pants were the scene stealer. With their extra layer, they were one of our favorite pieces we’ve ever seen on a red carpet! The chromatic palette was also put to great use, as each part of the outfit was very motivated as to its color.
Jo Se Ho
South Korean comedian Jo Se Ho wore a great blue checkered suit which he accessorized with a black bow tie. His ensemble was cool and fresh and really worked well for a red carpet event. We liked the great fit of the jacket and the width of the lapels. The only thing we would have changed are the white socks, but we’ll give him a pass.
NCT 127
The NCT 127 guys all wore really stylish and modern jackets that worked both individually and on a group level. The guys went for a black and white palette, which each member interpreted according to his personality and taste. Great job!
Jeong Sewoon
South Korean singer Jeong Sewoon wore a very cool jacket which did not go unseen. We really liked the black and white layer which peaked from the lining of the jacket only to button in front. This was a very good red carpet choice!
Kwon Yul
Actor Kwon Yul wore a really great white jacket accessorized with a white bow tie. Everything about his look was on point: the fit, the proportions, the details. Well done!
Day 6
The Day 6 boys went for a black and a light brick-red shade. We really liked the fact that they incorporated the color in a different way in their looks: pants, jacket and collar. Cohesion in difference is the name of the game here.
Got7
The guys from Got7 looked really futuristic on the red carpet of the Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong. From shiny blues to sleek suits, capes and coats, they all looked like they come straight out of Gotham. As the New Year approaches, it’s definitely great to see looks that are looking to what is next.
Dynamic Duo
Hip hop duo Dynamic Duo looked really modern and urban on the red carpet at the 2017 MAMA. We really liked both their looks and almost every piece they chose to wear from the leather jacket to the minimal shirt and cool pants. Great job!
Yoon Kye Sang
Korean actor Yoon Kye Sang went for an all-black ensemble which made him look stylish and strong. We especially loved the rounded collar, which is not something you see a lot on the red carpet. Not bad at all!
EXO
The EXO guys looked really classic as they walked down the red carpet of the 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong. We really liked the details in the appliques, the buttons and the neckwear. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but then again, we don’t have to!
BTS
The boys from BTS also went for a black and white color scheme, but their looks were more on the casual side. From a stylistic point of view, it was interesting how they chose to leave their jackets open to affirm the casual vibe all the way. Lesson: if you are going for a look, do it all the way!
The Mnet Asian Music Awards are one of our favorite red carpet events because they showcase the great style of Asian pop culture celebs and because they are always very edgy and different from red carpet events in the West. Asian fashion is often very forward looking and fun, which is what makes it interesting and entertaining.
