Fashion is one of the world’s most lucrative industries and places among the top fields that produce most of the money in the world.
Zooming in, the fashion industry is run by trend setters, forecasters and the big conglomerates. Within these, the luxury brands that dominate people’s image of what fashion is and what it can be are the some of the world’s most recognizable labels.
Recently, several brands have unveiled their official numbers in terms of value and sales, which has offered insight into which the most valuable luxury fashion brands are.
At the top of the pyramid is Louis Vuitton, worth over USD $47.2 billion. It’s apparently been a great year for the brand, as these figures are 15% higher than they were almost a year ago.
LV is followed by Chanel, valued at USD $37 billion, and Hermès at USD $31 billion.
The brand with the highest amount of growth over the last year is Saint Laurent. Even though it is placing 9th in the ranking at USD $3.6 billion, the house announced that it has had a 45% increase.
Here is the top official top 10 of the most valuable luxury fashion brands:
- Louis Vuitton ($47.2 billion)
- Chanel ($37 billion)
- Hermès ($31 billion)
- Gucci ($25.3 billion)
- Rolex ($8.4 billion)
- Cartier ($6 billion)
- Burberry ($4.7 billion)
- Dior ($4.7 billion)
- Saint Laurent/Yves Saint Laurent ($3.6 billion)
- Prada ($3.5 billion)
This ranking does not come as a great shock. Louis Vuitton is a brand that does a great job at marketing itself to a wide audience. It is an affordable luxury brand, but it is still exclusive, which means that it has all the ingredients to be on top.
Secondly, Chanel, which places as second is one of the most exclusive brands in the world. As many high-end houses, it makes most of its revenue from its cheaper products, of which it sells a lot, but its more pricey items are so high-priced that it makes sense as of why they are at the top.
The brands that follow are the usual suspects, all of them offering amazing products and investing a lot in their marketing, which results of course in great success.
The big established luxury brands still lead the market in the sector and most likely, they will continue to do so in the upcoming years, even though some changes may occur and new players might enter the top 10.
