As you might have seen recently, the urban living streetwear style is very much in at the moment, and people everywhere are trying to include it in one way or another, even if they don’t live in these areas.
In this article, we’ll look at what kind of outfits you should expect from the modern city style and how you can mix them up. Whether you plan on visiting some of the prettiest towns in Ontario, Vancouver, or Toronto or just plan to stay local, this style is perfect.
1. The blazer and jeans style
This is one for those among you who prefer something that can be worn both at home and for work; the blazer and jeans combo is timeless and looks great for any city dweller, especially in the cooler months. It’s perfect if you want to blend smart and casual styles, looking great and having a classier-than-average style.
The great thing about this outfit is that it can be tweaked depending on the occasion, with the wearer being able to both dress up and dress down whenever you fancy it. You can also accessorize with ease, and looks great when paired with a wooly trench coat and a simple scarf. This is a more casual style but is still smart and classy.
2. Athletic X casual style
Practicality is super popular at the moment, and if you can find a style that suits a variety of needs, you’re onto a winner. The athleisure trend is everywhere right now, nowhere more than on Instagram, where you’re certain to see it plastered all over your Explore Page. What makes this even better is that many workplaces are becoming more relaxed about dress codes, and it’s not uncommon to see workers donned in athletic gear.
When you go for a casual athletic style, sneakers are vital, and you can’t go wrong with a pair of Converse. These sneakers are as good as they come if you want to replicate this style. The low-ride variants are probably your best bet, though a pair of Old Skool Vans also work great. They provide good stability if you go to the gym whilst also allowing your feet to breathe.
3. The cropped jeans and loafers style
The weather taking a turn towards the colder months means that jeans are now acceptable, and you can finally stop exposing your hairy legs to the world. Cropped or tapered, jeans are very much in at the moment, and when paired with a pair of loafers, you can create a look that’s both practical and smart in appearance.
While this outfit is very ‘public school boy’, the cropped jeans and loafers look great and are perfect for both work and casual settings, as well as for on the weekend when you’re out with friends. Loafers are a great addition to any men’s footwear selection but have to be carefully paired if you want to pull this style off. It’s a fine line, but if done well, it looks great.
4. The oversized sweater and jeans style
This is a great look for those cold winter days when you still want to look great without sacrificing warmth and comfort. An oversized sweater with some jeans is the perfect combination for these chilly months. You can find sweaters in lots of different colors, so there’s definitely one out there that will suit your unique taste and style.
You can embrace your inner Steve Jobs and go for the oversized roll-neck sweater with a pair of comfortable bottoms; in this instance, we’d recommend a pair of comfy jeans as it creates a great look that is also pragmatic. The oversized clothing trend has been big lately and a look that’s unlikely to go out any time soon. Not convinced? Even GQ loves the oversized clothing trend!
5. The jersey and hoodie style
Soccer jerseys are a big deal at the moment, with some older jerseys reselling for many times their original sale value, especially if they have an iconic player’s name added to the back. Whether it’s a newer or older shirt, they look great when worn over a hoodie and are something you’re bound to see next time you head into the city, especially in student areas.
This streetwear style is quintessentially urban and is super Instagrammable, looking great and being certain to get plenty of attention online, especially in the soccer jersey space. If you do manage to get your hands on a vintage jersey with an iconic name on the back, pair it with a chunky hoodie and post it online. It’ll look great!
6. The floral shirt style
If you want to show off and get some color into your outfit, then floral is the way to go, especially when styled on a shirt with a white tee underneath. This outfit is so eye-catching and is a great way for you to have the opportunity to layer up without having to skimp on the outfit overall. It can be as casual or classy as you want.
Floral is very much in at the moment, and with the colder months coming in fast, adding a bit of color into your outfit rotation is a great way to keep a small bit of summer with you. For some reason, the urban style is very much about standing out and being eye-catching, so floral is the way to go in this regard. All eyes will be on you if you go for a flowery piece.
