Gloves have been around since Antiquity They protected us of many things through time, but thankfully, now we only have to wear them in winter (or when we ride a bike, etc). Gloves, like all things in clothing history have went through many changes but now they have become an accessory that every man must have if he lives in a climate where the temperatures go below freezing.
There are two types of gloves in the mainstream: leather gloves and wool gloves (gloves come in all materials, even cashmere, but these are the two big categories).
- Leather gloves have both a practical and stylish function: they keep you warm from the cold, are practical when driving and give your outfit that edge that you so much desire.
- Woolen gloves, however, are better if you are wearing a casual outfit. Also, wool protects your skin better than leather.
Gloves also divide by the way they are stitched. Although it`s mostly children who you will see wearing mittens, they also go sometimes for adults. More and more these days you will see people wearing fingerless gloves, whether they are leather or woolen gloves. We recommend to wear those if the temperatures are not so low, as the risk of getting frostbite grows if your fingers are not covered!
So, there it is: the a-b-c of the most important winter accessory!
