John Bartlett is a fashion designer who creates clothes that are casual and yet dressy, in bright colors and nice fabrics. John Bartlett is a graduate of Harvard University and the Fashion Institute of Technology. He is interesting because he not only creates clothes for people, but also for dogs. His love for animals is showcased in both clothes for our small companions, but also for people who adore animals. As you can see in the picture, you can choose clothes for your dog that match yours. John Bartlett is not the only designer who creates dog clothes. Some designers go so far, that they actually adapt dog normal clothes to dogs, making it even weirder. At least in our opinion!
We believe that dressing up your pet more than you dress up yourself is a little too much. Also, if you are very dressed up, you don`t need to dress up your dog too, because you are probably at an event that does not let you bring your dog. Or maybe you are in a dog-friendly event. However, it is alright, in our opinion, to put clothes on your dog, but not a tux and a bow tie.
Dogs need to be taken care of (and all other animals), and we know that you want your dog to feel it`s best, but dogs will feel good if they are left to be dogs!
We wanted to share this photo as an example of how far we think you can go with dog clothes, but we know not everyone agrees with us! So we`re asking you, what do you think about dressing up animals? What do you think about dressing up animals like people?

If you were going to dress your animal because it is cold outside, why not match it with yourself?

Or create a color combination, not necessarily a match 😛
Yeah I don’t think it’s a good idea to take your animal to a nice event. Though Look at Miranda Kerr taking her dog on VS runways..

Yes, especially if you are one of those people who have like 5 dogs in a leash:P
Probably not as I am not a dog person http://kjandersen.wordpress.com/
Ok, are you a cat person? 😀
Yes 😉 Cats like Siamese and Balinese to be specific. Do you like cats?
Well, we`re two, so we might not agree on all things, but we agree that sphinx cats are quite interesting.
🙂
My dog loves when I dress her up, but its usually just if we are going out and it’s a coat to keep her warm, or something cute around a holiday, not everyday! If the dog is ever uncomfortable I don’t agree with it! But if they are happy, then there is nothing wrong with it.
Well thought, well said!
Of course ! If I had a pet, I would slightly treat it like my child (literally) … and its style would be ‘bohemian chic’ lol
And what kind of pet would you like to have? Would be interesting to have like a big one.
I am not that much into dressing up pets, they do have a natural fur coat, so why put them in a coat. Most dogs are not instantly in love with the idea of being dressed up, they just get used to it… dogs are just not kids 😀
Yep, why do you need fur when you have one already? Except for hairless cats…
Yes, hairless cats may get a coat.. 🙂 hahaha
I think that dressing up your pets is a cute way of expressing that they’re a part of your family. Of course, when you have a child, you’d want them to be dressed well. This goes the same for your pets.:)
I wouldn’t. My dog is Norwegian Elk-hound, it loves cold climates, and will rip off anything. The cats, no, they look the best in their birth-suit. 😉
Haha, well if you would want to dress a dog up which rips off everything, the dog would get new clothes more frequent than a person!
I have a little toy poodle, I love putting her in little jackets to keep her warm in the cold air in Upstate NY, but I haven’t tried matching. Little to much for me 🙂 But more power to those who like to do it!

Dogs already have Fur. . .
Haha, great comment!
I’m not so excited about the idea, it’s kind of weird to dress up animals, they are pretty well adjusted.
Hy Omar,
Indeed, animals are better adjusted to the elements, but not always. What might be weird is that they have no control over the clothes they wear, they can’t do anything about it.
Pets have fur and are more adapted than we are, so I would not dress it up! Animals can handle cold weather better than we can, if they couldn’t they would hibernate or do something like make a warm nest!
Good point, Nestor!
