Connecting Fashion And Music

Fashion And MusicSo you want to be Jack the pirate. Or Superman, or Spider-man or any other big hero you grew up watching on television and in movies. What`s the way to achieve the state of mind these guys have? How to be James Bond? Well, we always talk about how clothes can make you feel different and better. But you`re not going to be running around the city you live in in a Batman outfit, aren’t you? Therefore, key to getting a good feeling is music! Yes, music, the most complex of the arts! (that is arguable, according to some).  Just like fashion, music is a great deal about attitude, which is something we strongly believe in! “Music gives color to the air of the moment.” said internationally famous designer Karl Lagerfeld and we think the same thing! Just put on a song from a soundtrack of a film you like, and see what happens!

Music does not only affect your mood, but also your overall state of mind. Masaru Emoto is famous for his experiments with water, where he exposed water to different words, sounds or music genres. After he did this, he froze the samples and noticed something great! Different types of music and sounds influenced the look and quality of the ice crystals resulting from the water which had listened to it. And, since we humans are 70 % water, just imagine how sounds influence us.

We are big believers that music can make a difference in the world and in your own personal life. In the end, we leave you with this quote as food for thought:

“Music is so naturally united with us that we cannot be free from it even if we so desired” (Boethius cited by Storr).

  1. Love this piece!!! Music always inspires my designs and also inspires when I hit the streets!!!! I pick out an awesome look, put it on, put on my headphones and hit the streets as if I’m walking the runway!!!! Love this post!!!!!

  2. You are absolutely right! i love the inter-woven r/ship between fashion/style and music! In fact, last night I had an event to go to and I had the classic case of ‘nothing to wear’ and then I randomly watched the Rihanna, Where have you been, video, and the images and beat from the song inspired me to rock my pair of tribal-inspired print culottes and bustier. It also slightly inspired my make up, so the video breathed new life into my wardrobe! So much so, that I am going to write a lil’ post about it!
