During the week

Stores usually reorganize the clothes on the racks on Thursday evenings. This is also the time they mark the products that will be on sale during the week-end. So, if you want to avoid the week-end rush and find more pieces on sale to choose from, Thursday evenings is the time to go!

Besides from Thursdays, Tuesdays also seem to be good days to go shopping for clothes!

During the year

Six weeks into the season

If you wish to save some money, try to avoid going shopping right after the “new arrivals” show up. Usually, after six or eight weeks after a product arrives, its price is marked down, so you will be able to get it at a lower price. The disadvantage of waiting is that the most popular items can go out of stock during the first six weeks. If you are buying from a chain store, you can have them call another store and ask whether you find the particular item you are looking for there. Besides saving money, buying six or eight weeks into the season will also help you fight the urge to “impulse buy”, meaning that if you forget about an item two or three weeks after you saw it, you probably don’t really need it.

Out of the season

If you are a guy who doesn’t change sizes easily, you can definitely stock up at the end of the season, and next year, you will have a lot of new clothes already picked and paid for at a low price! You need to keep in mind that in fashion, seasons are different from calendar season. In the fashion world, the new season normally begins about two months before the official change of season. This is why, if you wait until the end of the season, you should still find some time to wear the clothes you bought before storing them in your closet. January and February are the best times to look for autumn and winter clothes and accessories, as many shops start putting a lot of items on sale this time of year. In August, you will find summer clothes, summer shoes and bathing suits on sale, as fall approaches soon! According to market studies, November is also a month when you can buy clothes on sale.

Also, you might not know that athletic footwear usually goes on sale in January, as people are trying to keep their New Year’s resolutions, but you will also find athletic shoes on sale in April again. We’re not sure why, but we assume it’s because that’s when people start to go jogging outdoors. Suits usually go on sale in January and jeans usually go on sale in October, after the back-to-school rush is over.

Online

Newsletters and social profiles

To find the best deals online, we recommend you subscribe to certain store’s or e-shops’ newsletters. This way, you will be able to find out about a sale right the moment it starts and to buy the items you liked and waited to go on sale.

If you are searching for items online, it’s in your best interest to perform anonymous searches. Some retailer stores, such as Amazon, will suggest products based on your past searches. If you don’t want to experience forced product suggestions, you should log out of your account before searching for lower prices.

Apps

To get great deals online, you can also use diversity of apps or websites that compare prices. This way, you will be able to see what a product costs at different stores. However, these apps are not very useful if you want to buy clothes from e-shops that make handcrafted pieces or unique designs. To get this type of items on sale, the best strategy is to either follow them on their social networks, subscribe to their newsletter or regularly visit their site. In the online shopping world, Tuesdays (again) seem to be the best days to buy any type of menswear.

Leave an item in your cart

This might sound odd, but if you buy something online and leave it in your cart without completing the payment process, you might get a discount on it. Online shops will try to get you to buy the product by offering you a discount on it. This is not mandatory to happen, but if you think about it, you can’t loose anything if you try. You will either buy the product at the initial price (which you would have bought anyway) or you will receive a discount from the store, so it’s a no-lose situation.

Coupons

Today, many online stores offer coupons that can land you great discounts. If you fine such offers, you can make use of them, but be sure that some offers have a limited time offer, so check that before you purchase the item you want to buy!

Hi, this is an interesting post!!! offcourse I knew about the seasons but its always good to read about it and to never forget.

I shop everywhere. but regarding the discounts I often go to ZARA they have amazing discounts. BUt im not really into discounts because discounted clothes will be worn by many. I try to buy timeless pieces but still unique.
