Father’s Day Gift Guide [Part 2]

Finding great gifts can be a hard job for many people, especially if you don’t have much time or money on your hands. For those of you who are on the lookout for a great gift, we can share a shopping tip with you: buy something general, but with a personal note. OK, here’s what this means: a personal note does not mean a special dedication, but something that makes the piece you offer rather special, like a behind story.

We recently wrote an article featuring some gift ideas for Father’s Day. In that article, one of the things we suggested buying was a wallet. A wallet is pretty much of a general thing, but a special, hand-made on demand wallet is already something more special.  If you choose the leather and the string from which the wallet will be made to fit your dad’s taste and preferences, the wallet will be more than just a wallet, it will be a true attention-grabber. Today we are closing this year’s guide with part two! We know from experience that buying a gift comes harder to some people than to others, and this is where we can give you a hand.

Here some ideas and suggestions you can actually purchase or which you can simply use as inspiration for a Father’s Day gift:

1. Headphones

Meze 66 classics

If your dad is a music lover, he will surely love these Meze 66 Classics headphones. They cups are made from wood, which makes them not only environmental-friendly and special, but they also help create a natural and balanced tone. The ebony wood is used to create a warm sound.

Basically, most people today make use of headphones for one thing or the other. So if your dad is going to listen to something, he should listen to it in high-quality.

2. A tie

Plaid tie

This might sound like a classic thing or a cliché, but seriously, a man can have as many ties as it gets. With so many designs and fabrics out there, there is no way a guy can consume all the endless possible combinations. If you don’t know exactly what type of clothes your dad has, you can opt for a rather neutral tie, such as one in a solid color or a simple stripe pattern. Make sure you respect at least the basic tie rules: the tie’s width should be proportionate to the size of the wearer and it should be in an average length, unless the guy you are buying it for is really tall or really short. This tie from Salt+Dapper is a great example of a relaxed and original tie, yet it is quite grounded at the same time.

You can opt for more colorful ties for a dad who works in a more relaxed environment or if he has a creative personality and for rather conservative designs should he work in a place that has a dress code. Or, who knows, maybe he wants something that is opposite to his lifestyle to break the routine.

3. A bag

Courier

A briefcase, a duffle bag or any type of bag makes a great gift if it fits your dad’s lifestyle. A duffle bag is a great gift for someone who hits the gym a lot and needs to carry his essentials on a daily basis and a more conservative one for a office-type father. Even if your dad has a bag, you can gethim anew one so he can alternate.

This Courier bag from QWSTION is a very versatile piece and it makes a great gift for any personality. The color gray is a neutral one and it goes with any wardrobe and in any setting. Messenger bags are generally the best way to go if you want to buy somebody a bag and don’t know what type to get them.

4. Sunglasses

syndroide

Father’s Day is one of the few summer holidays in the calendar. If your dad spends a lot of time outdoors, you can buy him a new pair of shades. Sunglasses make great gifts, as they are very practical during the summer (you should always cover your eyes if you go out in the sun) and they also make wonderful accessories. You can choose a more classic design or, if you want to get your dad something really special, you can get him a pair of sunglasses from Parasite Eyewear, such as the Syndroïde, which have futuristic and marvelous designs!

5. A vintage bow tie

If your dad is a collector of memorabilia or passionate with history, you can get him a vintage item. A bow tie for example, is always a nice touch to a men’s outfit and you can buy lots of well-maintained ties and bow ties from the Tie Haberdashery. Vintage pieces are great as they carry a story with them and are a reference to a time the wearer appreciates and thinks of as inspiration and motivation.

6. A shirt

Shirt

A shirt is always a classic choice for a gift and if your dad can make use of a new one, you should get him one. Just make sure that you get it the right size or that he can exchange it for a different size if you aren’t sure of his sizes. To make it more special, you can get him a “themed” shirt. For example if he is a military man or a dad with a taste for the army, you can buy him a military-inspired shirt. US Army Apparel, for example, is the only brand licensed to use the US military’s name and branding, so if you choose one of their shirts, you can count on the fact that you are buying something authentic and of great quality.

And that was our 2014 Father’s day gift guide! Again, don’t forget that the best gifts are those you can’t buy!
