The Best Menswear Looks at the 2015 CFDA Awards

The 2015 CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Fashion Awards took place on Monday, June 1 at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York City.

The annual event has as its purpose to recognize the outstanding contributions made to American fashion by people from all parts of the industry and related fields. Therefore, the CFDA offers awards for design excellence in womenswear, menswear, and accessories as well as for outstanding accomplishments in creative vision, journalism, and lifetime achievement.

Given that this event is a fashion-related one and that many guests are fashion industry insiders, the CFDA Awards red carpet has little room for fashion misses, so we are very excited to see what the best menswear looks from this year’s awards show were.

And, despite the fact that most media looked and commented the dresses worn by the ladies, which were of all kinds, let’s take a moment and focus on the best dressed men at the 2015 CFDA Awards.

Zachary Quinto

Actor Zachary Quinto wore very classic evening attire. With a black bow tie and white pocket square, Mr. Quinto kept it classic and stylish at the same time. Zachary was the man who showed us how a classic look never goes out of style and is appropriate for any setting, age and moment.

Joe Jonas

Singer Joe Jonas wore a very classic outfit as well, but its details made him look outstanding and remarkable. With a soft collar and an interesting tie, Joe Jonas managed to stay fresh, relevant and modern. What we can all learn from Joe’s outfit is that a suit-shirt-and-tie outfit can look young if you get pieces that feature interesting details.

Ángel Sánchez

Angel Sanchez

Venezuelan fashion designer Ángel Sánchez compensated his dark look with a pair of shiny, yet elegant shoes. His look is great fashion lesson: you can always balance out an outfit that is monochrome and rather conservative by adding some interesting accessories, such as a colorful or shiny pair of shoes, a watch or a necklace.

Stephen Kolb

Stephen Kolb

Stephen Kolb, the Chief Executive Officer of the Council of Fashion Designers of America wore a very special jacket that we really loved, as it showed how you can be elegant and sophisticated, even by wearing something different than a classic tuxedo or suit. Moreover, his white bow tie on a white shirt was a true style lesson that shows you how that you can add volume to a monochrome outfit by layering interesting pieces.

Thom Browne

Thom Browne rocked a very special look at the 2015 CFDA awards. The designer went all the way and wore only special, outstanding pieces. With his outfit, Thom Browne showed that you can be very stylish in a shorts suit and that if are going to look special, you should go all the way. His jacket that featured an interesting detail as well as his bow tie completed the look and made Mr. Browne be one of the best dressed men at the CFDA awards.

Michael Kors

Michael Kors

Fashion designer Michael Kors wore a classic outfit and styled up his outfit with a pair of special sunglasses. Even though he did not have any visible outstanding details, Mr. Kors looked impeccable. This only goes to show that a suit that fits well paired with the right posture and attitude can make any man look like a million dollars.

Carlos Campos

Carlos Campos styled his outfit down by not adding any neck accessories. Moreover, the designer chose to wear a pair of sneakers. His fashion choices show us how one can still express his personality through his outfits and keep it relaxed at a dressy event, but still dress for the occasion and not break the dress code. We are well aware that this is something with which many men have issues and struggle. Gents, this is your moment: watch and learn!

The men at the 2015 CFDA awards looked great and everyone delivered something special and very interesting. Their outfits, even though mostly conservative and classic, can serve not only as style lessons, as we could see, but as style inspiration and attitude-enhancing elements as well.

My vote is for Michael Kors, don’t know why, he just looked great!

I like the print on Stephen’s jacket, laid against his crisp white shirt, its a great alternative to a basic black tux jacket. As for Thom B, hmmmmm, personally, I would have preferred it with a sliiiiight tan!
