After London, it was Milan’s turn to showcase the take of Italian and their International guests’ vision for the spring-summer 2016 fashions.
Milan is known to be one of the most stylish cities in the world and one of the four important fashion capitals of the world.
Italians are known for their classic take on menswear and for their sharp tailoring and elegant style. The Milan Fashion Week which was held in June 2015 however, delivered a lot more than that. After a series of rather conservative shows in the British capital, the collections displayed during MFW SS 16 consisted of looks that featured many interesting colors, patterns, mixes of patterns and prints and many original takes on menswear. The men’s fashion world is currently in a period in which, after a major development in the last years, is in the process of fining different directions to go. What we really enjoyed about the shows was the mix between high and low, formal and casual, dressy and sporty.
In this sense, the Bally collections was one of our favorites. The styling was truly remarkable and went to show that one can mix an evening jacket with a pair of sneakers or a pair of modern, colorful sunglasses with a shiny tuxedo jacket. The John collection also mixed the casual with the sporty, but they managed to create pieces that were a mix between the dressy and the sporty, which they mastered in a very skillful way.
And, when we thought we had seen it all, Ralph Lauren hit us with their amazing take on sportswear, which reflects the active, powerful and creative man of our decade in a very good way. From Tod’s and Canali we learned that there is not limited number of ways in which you can design a jacket and the John Richmond collection gave us food for thought with his impressive stylings based on contrasts.
There were so many great ideas presented during this event’s days that we hope will become trends for the next summer. Crazy prints, muted prints, shiny fabrics and much more are just some of the elements we hope to see on the stores of department stores worldwide in the near future.
Until then, we can only find our inspiration and great styling ideas in these shows.
There were many impressive looks that walked down the runway during this Milan Fashion Week and making a selection of the best was quite hard. In the gallery below, are some of our favorite looks and the reasons why we enjoyed them so much.
Take a look!
Fraquoh and Franchomme

I think Etro stick to their pattern design since few years back. Is Versace design inspired or for Ramadan collection, since it use Pakistani traditional male outfit as inspiration.
i loved the Phillipp Plein outfit- a good mix!
We agree, Jeremy!
