The Best Dressed Men from the 2017 Oscars

The 2017 edition of the Academy Awards took place on February 26 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The ceremony honored achievements 2016 films divided into 24 categories.

The Oscars were hosted for the first time by comedian Jimmy Kimmel and was broadcast in the United States by ABC, as well as by many television stations throughout the world.

With every edition of the Oscars comes a very elegant and beautiful red carpet event where the Hollywood stars of today walk to be photographed and showcase great fashion.

Discover the stars who made our menswear edit below:

Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling wore classic evening attire with a twist. The actor wore a shirt that featured a shit featuring a very interesting black embroidery which made the overall presentation more personal and interesting.

Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake wore very classic attire at the 2017Oscars. While we love a good suit and bow tie combination, we would love to see more color and other design elements on the red carpet.

John Legend

Singer John Legend is often on Attire Club’s best dressed list. This time around, the singer wore a very classic evening suit, which he accessorized with a big bow tie. We loved the shape of the bow tie – heavier on the bottom, which made it look more dynamic and bold.

Josh Dallas

Actor Josh Dallas wore a superb velvet jacket for the Oscars. As we said in a previous red carpet report, there is a now a trend in men’s fashion to wear three accessories on the upper half of a look: a bow tie, a pocket square and a lapel pin and Josh definitely followed the trend, but he’s done it so right. In fact, h might have done it best! Great job, Mr. Dallas!

Jamie Dornan

Fifty Shades star Jamie Dornan was top notch at the Oscars in a beautiful white jacket accessorized with a wonderful black bow tie. Wearing a white jacket is always a great way to go if you want to stand out from the crowd.

Damien Chazelle

Director Damien Chazelle was the one who brought the color to the red carpet. Granted, his suit was a neutral blue, but it was a great alternative to the classic black. A blue suit is always a great choice for younger men or for a more casual context. Great job!

Sting

If you think you can’t add a long shawl to a suit, think again and learn from Sting. The music superstar was definitely one of the best dressed men from the 2017 Oscars, where he broke down the classic suit with a great scarf.

Bye the way, as a special shout-out, Trudie Styler’s dress was impeccable!

Terrence Howard

Just when we thought we wouldn’t see any print or pattern at the Oscars this year, Terrence Howard made our day. It would be so amazing to see men wear more visually captivating looks on the red carpets of Hollywood and the world.

Jackie Chan

Also, who knew that Jackie Chan would be the one to draw our attention at the Oscars? With a great Mao collar the movie star looked really amazing. We also love his overall styling (the hair, the glasses, etc.) and his attitude. Jackie Chan really made justice to his status as a superstar and has morphed so gracefully into the man he is today.

Michael Strahan

Not everybody wore a bow tie at the Oscars this year. Michael Strahan brought the classic tie to the Oscars and he definitely wore it well! Well done!

Riz Ahmed

Actor Riz Ahmed wore a beautiful blue suit and bow tie combo featuring amazing peak lapels. He is a great model for thin and tall men everywhere who have trouble with fitted suits. Take notes!

Mahershala Ali

Mahershala Ali went for the all-black look at this year’s edition of the Oscars and he looked really stunning. It was great that he broke down the outfit with a simple black pocket square featuring small white polka dots.

Bentley Dean

We’re not sure of the name of the headpiece Bentley Dean is wearing, but we love it and want to see more of it. The director has been spotted wearing this type of headgear before and we think that everyone should take notes on having personal style.

The Oscars were definitely a very stylish place, as they usually are. However, we were a bit disappointed with the overall outfits: menswear is mostly classic at all the red carpets, but we’ve noticed that this year the women also followed a trend: there were lots of white and gold dresses at the Oscars, with a pop of red here and there. It’s a very conflicting feeling, both in regards to menswear and to womenswear: on the one hand, the outfits really look amazing, but on the other hand, we’d love to see something different.

Who knows, maybe things will change, but until then, we’re happy the Hollywood stars are still encouraging great fashion, creative designers and beautiful aesthetics.

Fraquoh and Franchomme
