The autumn 2018 collection by Corneliani continues the “emotional way of life” proposed by the brand, going beyond trends and thus offering a series of elegant and high-end clothes. The pieces themselves are not something you’ve never seen before: suits, jackets, trench coats, pants, but they are made with a lot of imagination and care.
Even though the clothes feature a somewhat sporty elegance, they are definitely more on the dressy side of fashion, with sleek cuts and strong materials. What’s great about this collection is that you can see the man wearing the garments. He’s bold, dynamic and creative and moves a lot from one context to the other. He works hard and needs to be comfortable and stylish, he meets people and travels form one part of the town to the other (or from one part of the world to the other). He doesn’t need fuss, but he wants to make a good impression and, above all, he wants to feel great.
The collection has a certain charm to it, there’s a softness involved that complements the boldness of the materials and the dark colors. This way, the clothes have dimension and propose a winter wardrobe for a man with a lot of personality.
And, besides all these great things, the pieces can be worn by men of any age, going to show that refinement and a sense of elegance is universal.
Elegance and comfort are essential for the Mantuan menswear label, which is why there is a strong focus on details in this collection. From the carefully-placed belts to the supporting buttons and gently-added ties, each element has thought behind it and is done impeccably. We would have liked to see more color or a wider variety of patterns, but in a world that is rather dark as the one of today, these colors can be characterized as a reflection of the time.
Corneliani is in the midst of a shift, but it hasn’t forgotten its past as it is carefully building itself up for the seasons to come. There’s a more mature approach to the label’s vision and it will be definitely of high interest to see where the Italian house will take its perspective next.
The sense of luxury and classic approach exuded by this collection goes to show that there is indeed a need for the refined and the sophisticated, which are elements that will never go out of style.
