The Briston Clubmaster Iconic Acetate Gold in Review

Briston is a French watch brand launched in 2012 by Brice Jaunet. Before establishing his own brand, Brice had worked for 15 years with many of the most popular watch brands in the business, from Raymond Weil to Zenith. With Briston, he wanted to create sporty-chic pieces that come at an affordable price.

The aesthetic of the watches is inspired by the merge between the British spirit and the French attitude. Boat races, polo fields and cricket matches all inspire the fancy lines, colors and textures of all Briston watches. If the watches were made for a film, it would definitely be a timeless classic that takes place in the ‘60s, where a bunch of Englishmen find themselves in a series of adventures in France and get to experience it through their perspective. Casualness, a preppy vibe and a dynamic spirit are the main traits of a Briston watch.

The Clubmaster Iconic Acetate Gold is one of the label’s more elegant pieces. It is made from cellulose acetate, which consists of 70% cotton flower and fiber, which means that it is a natural, anti-allergic substance. It features a beautiful gold finishing and an open window, a cadran à cœur ouvert, which allows the working mechanism to be seen. It is equipped with sapphire glass and a transparent case-back, which exposes the movement which is decorated with a Côte de Genève rotor.

The watch can take a pressure of up to 5 atmospheres (50 m underwater) and allows the wearer to change the straps, making it a very versatile piece. It runs on an automatic NH38A movement by Seiko.

The soft, glossy, black dial is in many ways the detail that elevates this timepiece to a statement watch. Of course, the watch can be worn anytime and anywhere, its refined simplicity makes it just right for any environment, but its glossy finish also qualifies it as an evening watch. The fact that it is black makes it go with any color or pattern, since black is a neutral color. The gold accent is also neutral, as all metals are neutrals, which means that the watch can be worn not just with any color or pattern, but also with other metals, such as a silver bracelet. It won’t clash! The flexibility of the watch definitely makes it a go-to piece.

The Briston Clubmaster Iconic Acetate Gold is not just a pretty watch, it has a very distinctive look that will grab the eye of anyone who sees it. Besides its great looks, this watch is very comfortable and sits very well on the wrist. The Briston straps are all very adaptable (we’ve worn a few of them in the past).

In terms of durability, we can say that the Clubmaster Iconic Acetate Gold, as well as other Briston watches don’t seem to have any issues in terms of functionality. We’ve worn Briston watches for a while now and never saw any type of breakdown, nor was there any maintenance needed. This is a very important factor, as many watches which come in the Briston price range ($400-$500) can be suspected of being cheap, overpriced items. But Briston always delivers great quality.

In this sense, it should not come as a great surprise that Briston is a brand beloved by many.

In conclusion, we recommend the Briston Clubmaster Iconic Acetate Gold to anyone looking for a versatile and stylish watch at an affordable price and can even recommend it as a gift. As all Briston watches, it comes beautifully packaged and ready to go! In terms of shipping, Briston can also be trusted with fast shipping and reliable services. What else can you want from a watch?
