The Briston Streamliner Adventure Swing Acetate in Review

The exciting and unique French company Briston is known for making unique timepieces that are reasonably priced. The watches stand out for their unusual square casings and their elegant but casual-chic style. The creator of the brand is Brice Jaunet, a veteran of the watch business with experience at Cartier, Baume & Mercier, Raymond Weil, and Zenith. The brand has evolved from the famed Oxford & Cambridge style in terms of aesthetics, and it has been a great success. Briston is a French label with an English flair.

The Briston Streamliner Adventure collection of the brand takes its aesthetic and charm in a different direction, proposing a more casual and dynamic approach to the brand’s upscale proposal. The collection features watches that come in several colors, our favorite being the Briston Streamliner Adventure Swing Acetate in Burgundy.

The watch has a very unique aesthetic, as it was made to be used both during the day and during the night and by both city-dwellers and outdoor enthusiasts. To create something that was meant to be so versatile and to make so many people happy was a bold endeavor and a tough job, but Briston has done a rather good job.

The model plays on a fresh and very strong color scheme: it is a bold piece that will stand out due to its remarkable colors.

For the first time, a shock-resistant watch with a cambered tonneau form from the Streamliner series is outfitted with both an analog movement (Quartz Miyota 203A) and a digital movement. Additionally, it has a 44 mm case constructed of incredibly durable burgundy swing cellulose acetate. The casing looks really beautiful and catches the light in a way that is quite astounding – definitely a conversation starter!

The Superluminova® dial provides visibility in the dark and gives this model a genuinely modern and contemporary flair that clearly sets it apart from the crowd. Besides telling the time (setting it up is really easy and intuitive), the watch also has other functions, which include a stopwatch, alarm, and date, and it also shows time digitally on a screen that lights up on the press of the upper-left button. This is a smart choice, as it is the most accessible button and allows you to simply push it whenever you want and need it, without any discomfort. We’ve worn Briston watches in the past, and all their models sit well on the wearer’s wrist and are easy to put on and take off. Briston watches, in general are very easy to wear for extended periods of time.

The watch is 15.50 mm thick and the glass covering the dial is a 3.5 mm Domed K1 mineral crystal. It resists to up to 10 ATM (100 m) under the water and comes with an international warranty of 2 years.

The strap is an interchangeable burgundy NATO strap, it is 280 mm in length and 20 mm in width.

All of these details make the watch is a fantastic travel, daily, and even professional companion. Young men, particularly those who enjoy transitioning from the office to a sports field or the ski slopes, are the primary audience we would see wearing it. With this watch, Briston encourages a combination of relaxation and action. We can see the watch being worn with a rather casual look – not necessarily with a suit, but it does work with a cool (leather) jacket, with khakis and chinos and it compliments beautifully a variety of shoes, from high-end sneakers to casual boating shoes. Besides these looks, we can also see the watch being worn with almost anything that is sporty, from fancy tracksuits to special gear designed for outdoor activities. In a way, the Briston Streamliner Adventure Swing Acetate is the right watch for people who work out before or after their job and for people who are active in different directions. You can wear it on a day when you go out to a quick lunch and then for a hike, and it is just the right watch to wear on a casual day at the beach. In this sense, we see it being not just a great purchase for oneself but it is also a nice gift – the watch comes packaged in a nice and simple box and has a protective gray sleeve in which it can be carried when traveling.
