The Jeans and T-shirt Combination Done Right (B)

When talking about fashion and clothes, many men (and women too) say “I’m a jeans and t-shirt”-kind of guy. By this, they mean that they will simply grab something that comes in handy and that is very comfortable. And, there is nothing wrong with that. This is exactly what your clothes should be: accessible at any time and comfortable.

It might come as a big surprise to many, but wearing jeans and t-shirts is not necessarily a fashion faux-pas. You can definitely wear a pair of jeans and t-shirt, of course, only in a very casual setting, and look amazing.

Wearing jeans and t-shirts does not have to be the definition of sloppy, which is how many people see it as.

In this quick guide, we will take a look at some simple and easy-to-follow tips you can follow if you want to wear jeans and t-shirts, maintain your comfort, but look great at the same time.

The reason why looking well is important is because the clothes you wear, regardless of whether you control them or not, define you and give people an impression of who you are as a person. Moreover, wearing clothes that make you look great will also boost your attitude and will make you have a better outlook towards yourself and the world.

Here are some things you can look out for when you are wearing a jeans and t-shirt combination:

1. Fit

Make sure your jeans and t-shirt fit you well and have a defined structure, such as this Levi’s Made & Crafted jeans and Native Youth t-shirt

The biggest rule when it comes to fashion and clothes is that the things you put on need to fit you well. Well-fitting clothes are clothes that are appropriate for your body size. Generally, your clothes should be fitted enough so that they touch your body, but they shouldn’t strangle you. Also, if your clothes are too loose, they won’t be too flattering either. If you are a bigger guy who wants to appear smaller, don’t wear clothes that are bigger than your size, you will only look bigger. Wearing clothes that are smaller will only make you weird, as it will look as if your clothes are strangling you.

On the other hand, if you are a man with a smaller frame trying to look bigger, wearing too small clothes won’t do it, you will look as if you are wearing shrunken clothes, and wearing big clothes will make you look as if you are drowning in your outfit.

This is why it is always crucial to wear clothes that fit well.

2. The cut

There are many types of cuts for any garment. Let’s take a look at some of the key elements you should know about t-shirt and jeans’ cuts.

T-shirts

T-shirts are all pretty much the same, but they differ mostly at the neckline. Therefore, there are v-neck t-shirts, crew neck t-shirt and scoop-neck t-shirts (aka drop-neck t-shirts).

V-neck t-shirts are perfect for almost everyone, especially for those who want to appear leaner and longer. Those who want to appear thinner can make great use of v-neck t-shirts, as the diagonals of the v-design will make them look longer and thinner.

Crew-neck t-shirts are perfect for those who have more square or oval features, as the neckline will balance out their natural features. Drop-neck t-shirts are an exaggerated version of crew-neck t-shirts and should be probably worn only when drinking a cocktail at a beach bar.

Moreover, note that block-type t-shirts that feature no tailoring in the waist or shoulders won’t look as great on you, so try to always search for something that has at least a little tailoring.

Jeans

There are a lot of jeans cut types: from skinny jeans to straight cut and slim jeans.

Most men will look amazing in straight-cut jeans, but the other types of cuts can look great on you as well. However, when it comes to skinny jeans, you might want to stay away from them if you are skinny yourself or if you are very large. Skinny jeans look best on men who have average frames.

3. Color

If you are wearing a pair of blue jeans, you can pair them with a t-shirt that features multiple shades of blue, such as this Shipley & Halmos t-shirt. The result will be a very casual, yet stylish and polished look

Another thing you can look for when wearing jeans and t-shirts is to add some color to your outfit. First of all, we need to say that it is recommended to go for a dark-wash pair of jeans rather than for a light-wash one, as dark-wash jeans look dressier and are more versatile, meaning you can wear them with more clothes in different combinations.

Most jeans, except for white ones and the very colorful type, are neutral, and therefore can be worn with any other color. In fashion, neutrals are a series of colors that can be matched to any other color. For example, black, white, gray, brown, khaki, tan, ivory, dark blue, etc., are all neutrals.

If you are wearing a pair of classic blue jeans, for great a effect, you can wear them with a t-shirt in a color that is either close to blue on the color spectrum, such as green or to wear them with a color that lies on the opposite side of blue on the color wheel, such as yellow or red. However, given that jeans are neutral, you can match them with pretty much any color: orange, red, pink, etc.

If you really want to style your jeans up, you can wear them with a printed shirt and with a nice pair of shoes.

Additional information

Even though jeans are very versatile and go pretty much anywhere and with anything, when you are wearing a jeans and t-shirt combination, you should probably stick to loafers, shoewise. Oxfordss might go in some cases, if the overall vibe of the outfit is more dressy and if the oxfords are made from suede or are very colorful, but otherwise, remember that t-shirts don’t usually go with dress shoes. If you are wearing a casual t-shirt and jeans combo, you can wear, except for loafers or moccasins, sandals, very elegant sneakers, dress or hiking boots or espadrilles.

As you can see, you can wear jeans and t-shirts and still look stylish and elegant, even in a casual setting. If you follow these guidelines, you can rest assured that you will always have one or more go-to jeans and t-shirt combination!
