A Look at the Best of the 2016 Resort Collections

Resort collections, also called cruise collections are collections designed for places that are always in the summer. Because many men don’t necessarily wear pieces from cruise collections only during the summer or just in tropical climates, resort collections have become more of a symbol of ease, relaxation and fun.

For their 2016 resort collections, many fashion labels went all out to offer their clients stunning pieces that will bring the sunshine in every corner of the world. The 2016 menswear resort collections feature an exuberant aesthetic, defined by beautiful fabrics and soft cuts that reflect the mellowness and the strong intensity of the warm season.

From Chanel to Bottega Veneta, every brand has a remarkable, unique and fresh point of view for the 2016 summer.

Let’s take a look at the crème de la crème from the 2016 menswear resort collections:

Charlie

Charlie-Resort-2016-005

Charlie by Matthew Zink is ready for the warm season with a great new collection. The collection, described by the designer as “timeless, bold and sexy” is, as usually, very powerful, masculine and energetic. A man dressed in Charlie can’t feel anything but confident and bold!

Chanel

The Chanel 2016 Resort collection designed by Karl Lagerfeld was unveiled in South Korea and proposed a colorful aesthetic. The clothes feature a series of great colors and graphic prints that are very warm and welcoming. The relaxed silhouettes of the collection offer a vibrant and elegant appeal to the pieces that were paired with ease and wit.

Tomas Maier

There is something boyish and casual about the smart clothes from Tomas Maier’s eponymous 2016 resort collection that makes them truly noteworthy. With a naïve, yet sophisticated and smart aesthetic, creative director Tomas Maier offered approachable, yet luxurious styles for the man who wants to keep his cool in every situation. Moreover, model Misa Patinszki did a great job at presenting the clothes for the collection’s look book.

Bottega Veneta

Also directed by Tomas Maier, the Bottega Veneta 2016 Resort collection plays with strong colors that convey a confident attitude and a cool approach to summer style. Making use of a lot of red, the label offers a view of a summer during which the modern man can work to make his dreams come true.

Emilio Pucci/ Pitti Uomo

A little bit retro, a little bit modern, Massimo Giorgetti made his debut as Emilio Pucci’s creative director with a short and sweet collection unveiled during the Pitti Uomo Spring-Summer 2016 show, that focused on youthful, creative prints. The dynamic and engaging prints, mixed with the clothes’ loose cuts and relaxed attitudes channel a fun and playful attitude.

Louis Vuitton

Louis-Vuitton

Esquire Spain recently released an editorial featuring the Louis Vuitton 2016 resort collection, modeled by Truls Martinsson. In the Erik Von Frankenberg photographs featuring Kim Jones’ latest designs for the French label, we can see a very serious, yet playful approach to the season. The collection looks back at classic casual and sports menswear and gives it a luxurious feel, perfect for an elegant, yet relaxed summer.

Resort collections are always a very special category of fashion: they are extremely elegant, but sporty and casual at the same time, which is what makes them so remarkable, complex and elaborate. Creating elegance in sportswear is hard, and being able to channel both worlds is an indicator of a true designer with an eye for true style.
