5 Surprising Causes of Hair Fall

man-hair-lossFor many people, it can be quite heartbreaking to see your hair withering away as this can change your appearance in a direction you might not necessarily want or know how to deal with. Generally, hair loss occurs due to an unhealthy diet, and a number of many other reasons. However, many people continue to lose hair despite maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle. In many cases, it’s all about genetics and whatever you do won’t help.

Other times, however, something you might not expect is the root of your hair loss.

Here are some causes of hair fall that may actually surprise you.

General anesthesia and surgery

If you’ve had any major surgery in the past few months then you can expect to lose some of your luscious locks due to the stress induced on your body by anesthesia. Under these circumstances, it is recommended that you consult your physician in order to manage hair fall, as he / she may suggest you a hair regrowth technology.

Stress

will-devaughnThere’s little good to be had from stress, and the same goes for your hair and overall physical health. As a defense mechanism against stress, your body can shed hair and in extreme cases, this can also lead to baldness. It’s important to relax and manage stress levels to control hair fall. Also, when you are dealing with stress or any kind of emotional issues, it is really important to get to the root of the issue (pun intended) to make sure it won’t have further or bigger psychological or physical effects on you.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a condition which can often be confused with regular dandruff. This unfortunately means that many people may not actually realize they have a hair loss problem and might therefore use the wrong treatments. If you notice that you have large white flakes in your hair, it is definitely recommended to check with your doctor, as hair follicles can become damaged. This can sometimes lead to temporary loss of hair, so you don’t need to take it as a permanent change.

Carrying a bag

Many people love to leave her locks open and flaunt them but if you do this, you might be wrecking your hair every day without even knowing it. Carrying your bag on the same shoulder with your hair open can result in thinning of your hair over time, as your hair often gets stuck under the strap, especially when there are chain links. This is true especially if you are carrying a heavy bag, such as a laptop bag.

As a tip, keep your hair tied or make sure it is resting on the opposite shoulder so that it doesn’t get pinned under the strap.

Tying your hair tightly

Tidy-looking hair buns are super trendy; especially on men, but you’re not doing your hair any favors in the long run. Tying your hair too tightly can damage the hair cuticles, and as a result, you get hair breakage. Try low and looser braids, ponytails and messy buns as a healthy hairstyle alternative.

Being aware of some lesser known causes of hair loss can help you either change your habits or help you take the appropriate measures to control or even stop any hair loss you might experience. When it comes to grooming and styling it is always important to know the background and working mechanisms of what is going on in order to have a good experience with your grooming techniques. Now that you are aware of these things, you can explore more avenues for hair care and grooming and end with better style results.

Dear Cjad,

You should definitely check that with your doctor. However, we don’t think you can lose your hair from dental anesthesia unless you have other health issues.

Yes, it’s not a bad thing, but for those who want to keep their hair, it’s important to know what may be causing it.
