Held between the 18th and 22nd of January, Paris Fashion Week gathered the crème de la crème of French designers and their international guests, who showcased their autumn-winter menswear collections in the French capital.
Many dark colors, big silhouettes and thick materials were among the trends we spotted, but there was a lot more to be seen.

Alexander McQueen
There was something that made about the Alexander McQueen collection that made it seem to come from a parallel universe. The clothes were based on classic pieces, but were transformed with the help of details into brand new items.
Balenciaga
Bold, large and rather flowy items were featured all in one in this look by Balenciaga. We thought the combination between light and dark was executed in a very interesting way. The pants are just exquisite.
Valentino
This look from the Valentino collection stood out for all the right reasons: it combined pieces from various aesthetics by featuring pieces that contrast in fabric and color, such as the coat and the bow tie. Well done!
Off-White
A play on the harlequin theme, this Off-White look was anything by off. We really enjoyed the optical illusion play and the red markers that broke it off. We loved the bell bottom of the pants as well.
Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton showed just how a boy of the summer will dress in the wintertime. The hats gave the boyish looks of the collection a French charm and the dark shades of blue gave us a sense of a high-end casualness.
Yohji Yamamoto
Coming from another land of fantasy, the Yohji Yamamoto collection played with military concepts and aesthetics. We really enjoyed this look, as it determines the eye to travel and to make discoveries on the body. It is created with true artistry and we really love that.
Junya Watanabe
We really enjoyed this jacket from the Junya Watanabe collection. In a way, it seems to be just a fine jacket, but if you think about it, it’s a very special jacket. The details are incredible – we love the mix of fabrics, the cuts and proportions. Great job!
Berluti
Sharp fits and smooth earth tones characterized the Berluti autumn-winter 2017-18 collection. Timeless items can be reinterpreted and recreated in so many ways, so it’s great to see how brands continue to develop classic items. Well done.
Acne Studios
A gorgeous play with proportions and textures came in this Acne Studios look. We loved the way the length of the pants was combined with the shortness of the shirt and big collars. The deep textures of the two pieces were really cool and added dimension to the look.
Ami
This look from the Ami autumn-winter 2017 collection was fun, young and boyish. It was a happy look due to the textures, colors and the way they were intertwined. We think the fashion world could use more such looks!
Kenzo
Last, but not least, we really loved this look by Kenzo. It’s not the most luxurious thing in the world, but it is creative in a fresh, raw kind of way. We really love this type of innocent fashion, especially when it’s executed so professionally.
Paris Fashion Week has offered fashions that were a little outside of what people expect from the French capital. Generally, Parisian runway shows are extremely artsy and flamboyant and this season they were more wearable and static. This could be happen for cultural reasons, but it could also be a reflection of an economic situation, where artistic menswear is not a powerful provider of money today.
It remains to be seen what we will see next on the runways of the world, as the new fashion season approaches its peak.
