As spring is ready to flourish, it’s time to rethink your outfits. Spring is a hard time to come up with great outfits, as the weather can really mess with you, but it is also a great opportunity, as stylewise, you can create some really great concepts.
In spring you need to find a balance between looking good, but making sure that you dress for the weather. In spring, you must always count with the fact that it might be summer when you go out and winter when you return a few hours later.
This is why it is very important to layer your outfits. Layering is basically all about adding more clothes that are not very thick on top of each other. This way, you can take one or two off if the weather is too warm and put them back again when it’s cooler. It’s not recommended to wear only one heavy piece, such as a jumper, as you might be too warm, sweat really bad and then get too cold when the night falls.
Having a few key items in your spring wardrobe will ensure you that you will have some good items to work with in the moody season.
A sports jacket is a spring essential for more reasons than one. First of all, it sports jackets come in many fabrics and depending on the weather conditions of where you live, you can choose one that is either thicker or thinner. For example, you can go for one made of soft cotton or for one made of heavy tweed. You can even have multiple jackets: one for the early spring, a second one for the mid-spring time and one for the late spring. Secondly, sports jackets are very versatile and can be worn with many other times. You can wear a good sports jacket with jeans or with dress pants, it goes with both loafers and with oxfords. And last, but not least, a sports jacket is very stylish: it adds structure to your body, it makes you look dapper and mature hence why every modern elegantologist should own at least one.
Earlier we mentioned the concept of layering. A vest is the best item to have if you are going for a layered look. You can go for a heavier, knit vest, or for a soft, buttoned, dress vest, depending on your style and needs. Vests are amazing because they are small and lightweight can be very easily taken off or put on. Remember, you don’t necessarily need to take out the outer layer of a layered outfit, you can take off the middle one, which can be a vest in a sports jacket – vest- shirt outfit.
Sports vests are also amazing items which can be worn in a multitude of ways and can even replace jackets, especially if you are wearing them with a long-sleeve shirt and are one who doesn’t like wearing two long sleeves at one time.
Jeans are probably the most versatile type of pants. You can dress them up with a nice shirt and vest or you can dress them down with a simple Henley. More than this, jeans are made of denim, which is a great material for all seasons. Denim works well in warmer temperatures as well as in cooler ones, so a pair of jeans can be a good friend during the spring.
If you want to wear your fancy shoes but are afraid a rain shower might ruin them, overshoes are the accessory for you. Overshoes, or modern galoshes are designed to fit over shoes and protect them from moisture or dirt. Most overshoes are made from a lightweight rubber and can be even carried around in a bag. If you decide to take them off after getting dirty, remember to have a small plastic bag which you can seal properly with you, so that they don’t end up all dirty in your leather tote bag.
Having these key items to work around in the spring will definitely give you a good start of the warm season. These pieces can be used and reused countless times and in many combinations and can also be worn during the summer, which is what makes them must-have items.
