The 2018 FIFA World Cup’s Most Stylish Players

Late last month we put up a piece about the fashion of the FIFA World Cup as pertained to athletic wear. This is a big occasion for a lot of different brands every four years, from Nike and Adidas sponsoring team kits to Louis Vuitton putting out bags. A great set of kits or clothes and accessories designed to celebrate the event can be the best advertising tool in the world even for brands as big as these, as millions of fans are watching the competition. For those reasons, the World Cup is actually a fairly important fashion event.

It also tends to bring about a gathering of some of the more stylish athletes on the planet. While we’ll mostly see these athletes out on the fields competing for World Cup glory, we may also catch video of them going into and out of arenas, doing interviews, or even appearing in biographical promos. Really, it’s just a fun time to get to know the best footballers in the world. And these are some of the players who are known for excellent personal style whom you might want to keep an eye on.

Paul Pogba – France

Paul Pogba is going to be a very important player at this summer’s World Cup. Once an up-and-coming star, he’s now among the more experienced players who will look to anchor a youthful French team with a shot at the Cup. He’s also a very interesting player from an off-field perspective though. Pogba is known to place a lot of emphasis on fashion, and changes his hair so often an opposing coach suggested it’s all he cares about.  He is most likely into urban sportswear, which is a big trend among young men in 2018.

Daniel Sturridge – England

One of the main fixtures of the English national team, and a player who, like Pogba, will be anchoring a talented but young team, Sturridge is notorious for his interest in fashion. He’s specifically known as something of a sneakerhead, but places a great deal of emphasis on looking his best in general (often with a hipster angle).

Sergio Ramos – Spain

Sergio Ramos will command a lot of the spotlight at the World Cup. For one thing, much of the world is less than pleased with him after he contributed to Egypt star Mohamed Salah’s injury in the Champions League final. For another, he’s part of the old, experienced core that will try to help Spain regain its international glory from a decade ago. Off the field, Ramos is known as one of the sharpest dressers in world sport. He’s been spotted to wear right everything from sportswear to classic suits. He often wears accessories like ties and sunglasses that bring out his personality and always makes sure his hair is on point and right for his face shape.

Radamel Falcao – Colombia

Radamel Falcao will once again be the leader of one of the best teams no one seems to talk about in Colombia. After a strong run in Brazil in 2014, the Colombians may command a little bit more attention, and hopefully we’ll get a few glimpses of Falcao in his regular clothes rather than his kit. While he dresses fairly casually for the most part, he does so in a chic way most men would do well to take note of! Besides the fact that he doesn’t seem to shy away from putting on great evening wear, Radmael’s style is also noteworthy because he wears dark blue suits instead of black ones. These make him look younger and more dynamic.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Portugal

Ronaldo is one of the two or three best players in the world, and if Portugal makes any noise in the Cup (such as beating Spain in group play) it will almost undoubtedly be on the back of his performance. But Ronaldo also happens to be very closely tied to the fashion industry, both through endorsements and his own style. Ronaldo’s style is emblematic, almost any football fan around the world know that he is a guy many fans look to emulate. And not just in terms of clothes and especially haircut, but also in terms of attitude.

Events such the FIFA World Cup are great because they offer fans a window into discovering their favorite players not just as sportsmen, but also as very stylish guys. And, maybe fans will gain some inspiration and up their own style. See, inspire, derive for yourself.
