Attire Club Mood Board: Chinese New Year of the Pig

We have officially entered the Year of the Pig in accordance with the Chinese calendar. Many Westerners may raise one eyebrow when they hear that the year ahead falls under the symbol of the pig, but in Chinese culture the pig actually represents good fortune, luck, wealth and prosperity. The pig is not just a sign of material well-being, but it also signifies honesty. People born in a year of the pig are said to be peace-loving, hardworking, truthful, generous and patient and to have a great sense of humor. While other positive features of pig-year people may be trustworthiness and being understanding, they can also be naïve, self-indulgent, gullible and materialistic. In a way, this makes sense, as almost all things can have both a positive aspect and a negative one. This is somewhat similar to the yin and yang concept.

Chinese New Year

The year of the pig is at the end of the 12-year cycle as described by the Chinese calendar, so it is a great opportunity to draw a line and look at the years that have passed and make a review what’s been good and what has been not so good.

The year of the pig may be a lucky year in terms of love and business, which is why you can set yourself up for success. Thus, this Chinese New Year, you can put your power-fashion-items in order. Check your wallets, card cases, ties and suits and make sure your shoes are polished. In the end, people born in the Year of the Pig are said to be interested in fashion and loving attention, so maybe you can channel a bit of this attitude in a way that is positive and works for you.

In Chinese astrology, bracelets featuring pigs containing different crystals are also said to be lucky in the Year of the Pig 2019. For those who wear them, the Pig ensures prosperity, abundance and a constant high income.

So, whether you are a believer in the Year of the Earth Pig and in what it may bring or not, such a holiday is always a nice opportunity to take some time and reflect over things and allow new, good things to enter your life, while scatting away the bad ones.
