3 Wedding Fashion Tips for Grooms

Groom-gray-outfitFinding the most fashionable wedding attire for men might seem easy on the surface, but you’d be surprised by how many guys struggle a lot in this department. While not as “difficult” as finding a dress for the mother of the groom, it’s still a challenge nonetheless.

It is said that men’s fashion is simpler than women’s fashion, but in fact, many times it can be harder to create an original men’s outfit and to find fitting clothes for men, as the choices available are a lot narrow and men’s clothes are harder to make fit than women’s clothes.

Here are some tips that can help you make the whole process of choosing the right groom attire. Whether you prefer a traditional suit, a modern tuxedo, or a more unconventional ensemble, these guidelines will steer you in the right direction and ensure you look dashing as you walk down the aisle.

Tip #1: Make it work and mind the details

Man-groom-accent-fabricsIf you are not sure what do wear on your big day, but want something special, you shouldn’t necessarily think about reinventing the wheel. Surely, if you can do that, more power to you, but if you simply want to look good and memorable without too much hassle, this can be easily achieved too. You can simply opt for a suit that looks well and that fits you and then work around it with accessories. Find a suit in which you feel comfortable and which is right for the occasion and then add accessories that will complete the image. In this sense, you can go for a colorful tie or bow tie, for a cool pocket square or a nice watch. Remember that you don’t want to overaccessorize, so if you have two or three accessories that are quite bold, that is more than enough. Keep it simple and make sure you wear things you feel express who you are. For example, you can wear your favorite color, a print you feel associated with (like paisley, tartan or something related to your heritage or flag), or an heirloom (such as a vintage watch). Sometimes, adding just a few touches in the form of accent fabrics can go a long way.

Moreover, don’t underestimate the power of subtle personalization. something like a monogrammed men’s handkerchief can add a unique touch of elegance and set you apart. It carries a hint of tradition and can also serve as a treasured keepsake from your special day.

Your main goal is to find an ensemble that will allow you to look like and feel like yourself. You shouldn’t be trying to be anybody other than the man you truly are. Because that’s the man your better half wants to marry. So stay true to yourself and choose wedding attire to match, whether your attempting to save money for your wedding or go all out and splurge like there’s no tomorrow.

Tip #2: Keep the time of year in mind

Man-groom-suitStyle should be accompanied by comfort, so it’s essential to make sure that your suit won’t be too hot or too cold. This is an obvious aspect and doesn’t need much explanation, but given the many details one has to consider before the wedding day, it’s important not to lose this from sight. Go for something made from a lighter fabric if the wedding takes place on a warm day and something a bit heavier if it’s during the autumn or winter. Be aware that cotton for example is not very good to wear in the winter, so do you research first. When choosing something warmer for the wintertime, we don’t recommend going full heavy wool, simply go for something a bit thicker and then wear a coat on top.

Tip #3: Stylists, tailors and everything in between

When in doubt, we recommend asking a professional, such as a tailor or a stylist, as they are very likely to give you at least some great tips on how your clothes should fit and what works on you and what does not. Surely, you can get a custom-made suit too. Of course, these people have tastes of their own too, so it’s important to filter the information they give you. You can recognize a good stylist by the fact that he can help you and will make you feel comfortable at the same time. If you don’t know any tailor to ask or don’t want to pay for a stylist, ask a friend whose taste you can rely on; it’s often helpful to have an “outside view” on the whole ensemble.

There are many details that go into finding custom fitting suits and the right accessories for your wedding day and into making sure that what you wear fits what your wife will wear, but having an outline based on these ideas can be of tremendous help on the big day. So, feel free to ask around and make sure you feel comfortable, as this is what is most important.
