5 Underwear Rules (B)

A confident and cohesive sense of style does not start with wearing the latest designer suits or shoes, but with your underwear. Your underwear is the base of every (or almost every) outfit you wear: it represents the base layer on which one builds. Therefore, your underwear needs to be as close to perfection as possible.

To see how to make the best of your underwear, we will give you a list do’s and don’ts, which you can use to have a great experience.

1. Buy new underwear often

According to a statistic, a pair of underwear gets replaced, on average, every 8 years. Whether this is true or not, we can’t know, but if it were true, it would be a bummer. Not only because of the 8 years, which is a too long usage time for a pair of underwear; but because this is an average, which means that some men use the same underwear for more than 8 years.

It is very important to always have underwear in great shape: Once a pair of underwear has seen better days, if it has a small hole or any other imperfection, it’s time for it to go. When this is the case, don’t hold back from tossing an old pair of underpants!

Buying new underwear is not only fun, but it can also introduce you to new worlds, as you can experiment with different types of underwear. Some brands even offer very special underwear. For example, RevolutionWear is a brand that offers a line of great undergarments called FRIGO, which combines a cutting-edge, patented technology with high-performance fabrics that change the way underwear is built. Their designs feature not only a great aesthetic, but, because they are made from state-of-the-art materials, they are also comfortable, they give you great support and make sure that your privates are kept at a good temperature and in a skin-friendly material, which is very important. The last thing you want is to damage your boys from wearing bad-quality underwear.

2. Wash them often

A second rule when it comes to underwear is to wash them as often as possible. Basically, once you’ve taken a pair off, they need to go in the washing machine.

Make sure you check the best temperature at which your underwear should be washed and wash them only at that temperature. This way, you will be sure that you will clean them from any bacteria or other things that might harm your health or comfort.

Also, make sure you have enough underwear in your drawer! For example, if you do your laundry once a week, you should have at least one pair for each day of the week, two extra pairs in case you change multiple times in a day, and one or two pairs, just in case. This adds up to at least 10 different pairs.

3. Don’t wear cotton at the gym

Cotton or synthetic blends are alright to be worn on a daily basis, but when working out, you should always make sure you wear a pair of undies made from a moisture-wicking fabric, such as a cotton-spandex blend. Just because you are working out, doesn’t mean you can show off your sweat in your private area. Moreover, never wear boxers, cotton or go commando when working out – this will neither feel nor look good, as your sweat will come in direct contact with your pants, it will not be properly absorbed and it will leave stains on your pants and on the machines. Boxers, because they are loose, will make you need to always readjust and will not do a great job at absorbing the moist either.

4. Wear the right size

The rule of thumb when it comes to clothes in general, and to underwear in particular, is that they need to be your size. Wearing underwear that is bigger than your size will make you always need to readjust, which is awful uncomfortable. On the other hand, wearing underwear that is too small for you will not make your package stand out, it will squeeze you and it can even damage your boys.

5. Your underwear must breathe

The last thing you need when it comes to undergarments is for them to block your skin from breathing. There are several reasons why your underwear may not allow your skin to breathe: they can be too tight, they can be made from the wrong fabric or they can have a bad cut. The reason however, is not so important: if your skin does not breathe in your underwear, you need to change them.

Not allowing a body part to breathe can cause serious health issues, burns and rashes and it can even reduce its function.

Having good underwear is essential, not only from an aesthetic point of view, but from a practical point of view as well. Knowing from where to get good underwear and how to wear it, will make you both look good and feel confident at the same time. Even though we recommend that you keep your underwear private, it’s always good to know that you are put together from head to toe, as this will enhance your attitude and will make you feel like a winner!
